Queer Comedy Shows in Austin

The most reliable queer comedy show in Austin right now is TexAss, an all-queer stand-up lineup at Fallout Theater downtown. It ran August 21 and September 13, 2026, and tickets start at $12. ColdTowne’s Coming Out showcase and a Fallout variety show called Queertowne each ran in March 2026.

That’s a short list, and we kept it short on purpose. Austin’s queer comedy nights come and go, and several we found hadn’t posted a date in more than a year. For a funny night that runs every week, the drag game show and drag bingo in our drag shows guide are steadier bets.

Stand-Up Shows

TexAss

TexAss is an all-queer stand-up show. Its listing says the founders “wanted to watch a full lineup of queer comics on one stage. Not just one slot, but all of them,” and that “every comic got paid for it.” It has run for about three and a half years. Sarah Spear hosted the September show, with five comics on the bill.

  • Where: Fallout Theater, 616 Lavaca St, downtown
  • When: monthly, by its own account. The last two were Friday, August 21, and Sunday, September 13, 2026, at 7:30 PM on the September date
  • Cost: tickets start at $12. Fallout is BYOB
  • Lineups: TexAss posts each month’s lineup on Instagram at @texasscomedy; the September 13 listing on Do512 shows the format

Coming Out Showcase at ColdTowne

ColdTowne Theater billed Coming Out as “a standup showcase of Austin’s top queer comedians,” hosted by Moe Christine. The most recent date on ColdTowne’s site was Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 8 PM in the ColdTowne Cabaret, a 90-minute show. We didn’t find a later date, so check ColdTowne’s calendar before you plan around it.

Comedy With Drag

Two drag nights run on a fixed schedule and lean on comedy: The Drag Queen Game Show at The Highball on South Lamar every Tuesday, and Drag Queen Bingo at St. Elmo Brewing on the third Wednesday of the month. Both are free. Times and details are in our drag shows guide, and our queer Austin by day of the week page has the rest of the week.

Before You Go

  • Check the date the week of. Monthly shows move nights and venues, and lineups change every month
  • Bring ID. Fallout is BYOB, so ask whether a show is 21+ before you bring anyone younger
  • Ask about content. These listings don’t post content notes, so ask the venue if that matters to you
  • Ask about access. Small theaters vary on steps and seating, so call ahead if you need to know

What We Couldn’t Check

  • We haven’t been to these shows
  • Whether Coming Out and Queertowne are still running after March 2026
  • Tongue in Cheek, a queer comedy open mic that met at Swan Dive on first Thursdays. The newest date we found was April 2025, so we left it off. If it’s still running, tell us
  • Greetings, from Queer Mountain, a queer storytelling show at Cheer Up Charlies. We didn’t find a dated show from the past year
  • Instagram posts, which need a login we didn’t use

Last checked: October 2026. Show dates read from ColdTowne Theater’s site, Fallout Theater’s Eventbrite listing and Do512’s listings on October 15, 2026. See how we choose what goes on a list.
