Several of Austin’s gay bars have dance floors. This page is for parties that move. A collective books a venue and sells tickets, and its crowd goes wherever the next one is. We found two that throw parties through the year and one group that teaches queer dance classes for free. Each posts its own dates, and we read them on October 15, 2026.
For the bars with dance floors, see the “Where to Dance” part of our gay bars guide. For weekly two-step and line dance nights, see our queer country guide.

The Parties
Neon Rainbows
Neon Rainbows has been throwing queer country parties in Austin since 2012 and calls itself “the longest-running source for Queer Country in Texas.” Its line dance party, STAMPEDE, runs on Friday nights at The Highball with a theme each time: Dolly Disco Night on September 25, then “Boo Scootin’ Boogie” on October 30. Doors are at 8 pm, and it’s 21 and up. Buy tickets through Neon Rainbows.
It also throws one-night parties. The Haunted Hoedown at Elysium on October 15 had line dancing with Country Fried Dance, 18 and up. YEEHAWLOWEEN is the afternoon of October 31 at the Austin Motel. In February it threw a disco-themed “Southern Sapphic Linedance Party” with lessons for beginners.

Faye Fearless
Faye Fearless throws “lesbian parties, sapphic mixers, WLW community nights” in Austin. The big one is Lez Prom on Valentine’s Day at Spider House Ballroom; the 2026 dance was its tenth. In April it threw Dance The Masc Off, “a sapphic dance party,” at the same ballroom. From April to September, its Lesbian Boat Party goes out on Lake Travis about once a month, with dancing on board.
Its events page had nothing listed after September 20 when we read it. Check it in December for the next Lez Prom.
- Where: Spider House Ballroom, 2906 Fruth Street, Austin 78705; boat parties from Lakeside Boat Rentals on Lake Travis
- Cost: ticketed; prices on each event page

Queer Dance Austin
If you’d like to learn before you go out, Queer Dance Austin is “a queer, trans, and ally inclusive group” that runs “Classes, private lessons, workshops, and social events by and for the local Austin” LGBTQ+ community. Its October calendar listed free tango lessons on Mondays, free two-step on Wednesdays, a Latin night on Thursdays and free line dance on Saturday nights.
The calendar’s month view cuts off the venue names, so open each event for the place.

Crave by Local Queer
Local Queer threw a dance party called Crave on August 1, from 10 pm to 2 am, with the location shared after you RSVP. We found only that one date, so it isn’t listed above. Watch Local Queer’s Partiful for the next one.
Before You Go
- Check the age. STAMPEDE is 21 and up; some Neon Rainbows parties are 18 and up. Bring an ID
- Buy ahead. These parties sell tickets online, so check before you go
- Ask about lessons. Some Neon Rainbows parties start with a beginner lesson. Get there at doors if you’re new
- Ask about access. Ask the venue about stairs, seating, noise and parking, and whether there’s a quieter room
- Plan your ride home. Spider House, The Highball and Elysium are in different parts of town, and parties run late
What We Couldn’t Check
- Ticket prices, which are on each event’s page
- Faye Fearless’s next date. Nothing was listed after September 20
- Venue details for Queer Dance Austin’s classes
- Who each party is for beyond what it says. Faye Fearless says its events are for queer women and sapphics. Read each event page
Last checked: October 2026. Each group’s calendar or events page read on October 15, 2026. See how we choose what goes on a list.
