LGBTQ+ Couples Counseling in Austin

These Austin couples therapists and practices say on their own sites that they work with LGBTQ+ couples. Six offer sessions in Austin, and one works by video anywhere in Texas. For each named clinician, we looked up the license in the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council’s records on October 15, 2026. Every one is active, with no disciplinary action on record.

Fees below are the ones each practice posts. Most couples therapy is self-pay, because insurance plans often don’t cover it. If you’re looking for therapy on your own, start with our LGBTQ+ therapists guide. We aren’t clinicians, and this page isn’t medical advice.

Small Practices and Solo Therapists

Belonging Counseling

Belonging Counseling is a small South Austin practice for couples and for people on their own. “While we work with all kinds of folks, we specialize working with LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC populations,” its home page says. Its owner, Angie Martinez, LPC, writes that she works with “LGBTQA+ adults and couples who reside in Texas,” and her couples work uses EFT and the Gottman Method. The practice also does sex therapy for couples.

A couples session of 53 minutes or more is $170. The practice takes Aetna, United and Cigna, and it notes that insurance usually doesn’t cover couples therapy.

  • License check: Angie Martinez, LPC 83463, active, no disciplinary action on record (BHEC, October 15, 2026). The number matches the one on her site
  • Where: 2222 Western Trails Blvd., Austin 78745. In-person times are limited; video sessions for anyone in Texas

The Center for Relationships

The Center for Relationships calls itself the only Gottman Relationship Therapy and Education Center serving all of Texas. Its team page says its therapists use “identity-affirming and queer-friendly methods.” You’re matched with a therapist, and most of the team are associates and graduate interns supervised by the founder, Dr. Vagdevi Meunier, a licensed psychologist. Couples work often starts with a four-session Gottman assessment and a feedback session.

The center doesn’t take insurance. It says its rates “typically fall between $85-$200/hour depending on the licensure, training, and years of experience,” with a sliding scale and lower-cost interns. Dr. Meunier charges more. Only the fully licensed therapists there can give you a superbill to file with insurance.

  • License check: Vagdevi Meunier, psychologist license 31128, active, no disciplinary action on record (BHEC, October 15, 2026). Associates and interns weren’t checked one by one
  • Where: 3660 Stoneridge Rd, Suite F102, Austin 78746

  • Natalie Najman, LMFT: her bio says she “is LGBTQ+/Queer affirming” and works with all relationship structures. $165 for 50 minutes, $265 for 80
  • Deanna Shahady, LMFT: an AASECT certified sex therapist who “is LGBTQIA+ affirming and is poly and kink aware.” $180 for 50 minutes, $290 for 80

He’s an associate, which in Texas means he practices under a licensed supervisor while finishing his hours toward full licensure. His profile names the supervisor.

His posted fees are $135 for 50 minutes and $180 for 75. He’s out of network, gives a superbill on request, and says to ask about a sliding scale.

Larger Practices and Lower-Cost Options

Just Mind Counseling

Just Mind is a large Austin group practice with an LGBTQ+ couples counseling page. “Prefer an LGBTQ+ couples therapist specifically? We’ll make sure that happens,” it says, and the page lists the therapists who see LGBTQ+ couples, several of them LMFTs. It covers non-monogamous relationships too.

Couples sessions run $160 to $215 depending on the therapist, and weekend sessions add $15 an hour. Supervised graduate interns see clients for $75. Just Mind is in network with Aetna, EHN, Harbor Health, Nomi Health and Sana Benefits.

Waterloo Counseling Center

Waterloo has been a “safe & affirming space for your queer mental health needs since 1983,” and couples and family therapy is one of its services. It’s a program of the nonprofit Texas Health Action. Most couples sessions are by video, with a few in person.

Waterloo’s sliding scale program cuts the self-pay fee by 42% to 98% based on household income, and openings are limited. People living with HIV who don’t have insurance may qualify for Ryan White grant help. New clients start on a waitlist.

Love Let Out

Love Let Out is an online-only group practice for “LGBTQ Individuals, Couples and Non-Traditional Relationships,” and it sees clients anywhere in Texas by video. It works with “relationships of every size and structure,” so a triad or polycule can come in together. The practice is based in Houston, so it may suit you if a video session with a specialist matters more than an office in Austin.

A 50-minute couples session is $160, and 75 minutes is $240. In Texas it takes Aetna, Carelon, Cigna, Curative, Oscar, Oxford, UnitedHealthcare, and Blue Cross Blue Shield HMO and PPO plans. The first 15-minute call is free.

  • License check: founder Cody Glover, LPC 81698, active, no disciplinary action on record (BHEC, October 15, 2026). Other clinicians weren’t checked one by one
  • Phone: (281) 888-8721

Also on Our Therapists Guide

Lindsay Legé, Colors of Austin Counseling, Louis Laves-Webb & Associates and Deep Centered Mental Health also list couples work. Their entries are on the therapists guide, with fees and licenses.

Before You Go

  • Ask who you’ll see. At a group practice, ask for the therapist whose bio brought you there. Ask whether they’re fully licensed or an associate, since that changes the fee and whether insurance reimburses
  • Ask about their method. Gottman, EFT and Imago are common names. Ask what the first few sessions look like, and whether they start with an assessment
  • Ask how they handle your relationship’s shape. If you’re non-monogamous, or one partner is transitioning, ask about their experience before the first paid session
  • Ask about insurance before you book. Many plans don’t pay for couples therapy. Some practices give you a superbill to file for out-of-network benefits
  • Ask how records are kept. Ask what goes in a joint file and what the therapist does with something one partner shares alone
  • Check the license yourself. The Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council has a free lookup for counselors, marriage and family therapists, social workers and psychologists

What We Couldn’t Check

  • Which therapists have openings this month, and wait times
  • Fees that aren’t posted (Austin Concierge Therapy) or that vary by clinician (The Center for Relationships, Just Mind)
  • Licenses for every associate and intern at the group practices. We checked the clinicians we name
  • Whether each therapist’s training includes LGBTQ+ couples specifically. These are questions for the consultation call

Last checked: October 2026. Each practice’s pages read on October 15, 2026, and each named clinician looked up in the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council’s license records the same day. See how we choose what goes on a list.
