LGBTQ+ Friendly OB-GYNs, Fertility Clinics and Family Building in Austin

These Austin gynecology practices and fertility clinics say on their own websites that they serve LGBTQ+ patients. Three gynecology practices name trans or nonbinary patients or gender-affirming care. Three fertility clinics have pages for same-sex couples and trans patients. For adoption and fostering, we found one Austin nonprofit and one statewide agency that say they welcome LGBTQ+ parents.

This is a list of what each practice states, not medical advice. For a family doctor, see the primary care section of our LGBTQ+ healthcare guide.

What Texas Law Says About Surrogacy

Texas Family Code Section 160.754 covers gestational agreements. It says “The intended parents must be married to each other,” and that the gestational mother’s own eggs “may not be used.” The South Austin Fertility Center page makes the same point and suggests talking to a family lawyer. We aren’t lawyers and this isn’t advice. Read the statute itself and ask an attorney before you sign anything.

Adoption and Foster Care

Becoming a foster or adoptive parent through the state starts with a free information meeting. After that comes a 19-hour training course, First Aid and CPR certification, and a home visit from a caseworker, according to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services steps page.

The SAFE Alliance

The SAFE Alliance is an Austin nonprofit with a foster and adopt program. It says “SAFE supports all families regardless of race, sexuality, gender or ability.” It helps with foster, kinship and adoptive placements and runs orientations you sign up for online.

Before You Book

  • Ask who you’ll see. A practice-wide welcome doesn’t tell you which clinician has trans patients. Ask for one who does
  • Ask about forms and records. Can the intake form and patient portal show your name and pronouns?
  • Ask about insurance early. Coverage depends on your plan, and benefits like Carrot or Progyny depend on your employer. Check before the first consult
  • Look up the doctor’s license. The Texas Medical Board has a free license search
  • Ask an agency directly whether it places children with LGBTQ+ parents, single parents or unmarried couples, before you start a home study

What We Couldn’t Check

  • Individual doctors’ licenses. We didn’t name any doctors, so we didn’t look any up
  • Prices. None of the fertility clinics posted treatment prices on the pages we read
  • Whether any practice has trans-specific gynecology training. None said so
  • An Austin address for Adoption Choices of Texas

Last checked: October 2026. Every entry is read from the practice’s or agency’s own website on October 14, 2026. We didn’t call or visit. Health pages are rechecked every six months, so this one is due in April 2027. See how we choose what goes on a list.
