Austin doesn’t have a queer bar that’s alcohol-free every night. What it has is a handful of queer groups that throw sober events, plus a sober bar and a sober social club that are open to everyone. If you’re looking for meetings rather than a night out, our LGBTQ+ recovery meetings guide covers the Austin Galano Club and the queer AA and NA meetings.
The Short List
| Where | What it is |
|---|---|
| Austin Roundup | Queer recovery group: a summer conference and a sober New Year’s party |
| Local Queer | A monthly non-alcoholic happy hour for sapphic and trans folks |
| Sober & Proud Pride Crawl | A zero-proof Pride bar crawl in June |
| Sans Bar | Austin’s sober bar downtown, Fridays only |
| The Unbuzzed Club | Sober socials and walks, not queer-specific |
Queer and Alcohol-Free
Austin Roundup
Austin Roundup is an all-volunteer group that runs a recovery conference for LGBTQIA+ people and allies, “folx in recovery from addictions.” The 2026 conference was July 17 to 19. It also puts on a drag show and fundraisers through the year.
New Year’s Eve is a sober party. The last one, “Queer Cosmic Highway,” ran from 9 PM on December 31, 2025, to 1 AM at the Austin Galano Club, 6809 Guadalupe St, billed as “A safe place for LGBTQ+ and allies.” Entry was pay what you can, with $10 to $15 suggested. There was catered food, non-alcoholic drinks, karaoke, tarot and a dance floor, and the club kept meeting rooms open for 12-step meetings at 10 PM, 11 PM and 12:15 AM.

Local Queer
Local Queer is an Austin nonprofit “dedicated to creating space for sapphic and trans identities.” Its monthly events include a Non-Alcoholic Happy Hour, along with a book club, a walking club and a game night. In October 2026 the happy hour moved between Mozart’s Coffee and Radio East.

Sober & Proud Pride Crawl
Sober & Proud: Austin Zero Proof Pride Crawl ran on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 4 to 10 PM, listed at Trap House Caribbean. Its listing describes “a high-vibe, non-alcoholic Pride bar crawl” with mocktails, DJs and pop-ups, for “Austin’s LGBTQ+, sober, sober-curious, and 420 crowd.” The listing mentions 420-friendly drinks, so if you’re avoiding THC too, ask what’s on the menu.

Alcohol-Free, Open to Everyone
These two don’t say anything about LGBTQ+ guests on their sites. We list them because they’re alcohol-free every time, and we could verify both.
Sans Bar
Sans Bar calls itself “Austin’s First Sober Bar” and has served alcohol-free cocktails since 2017. “You don’t have to be sober to join us,” it says.
- Where: 918 Congress Ave, Suite 100, downtown
- Hours, as posted: Fridays only, 6 PM to midnight

Before You Go
- Check the date the week of. Most of these are monthly or yearly, and venues change
- Going alone? Message the organizer ahead of time and ask who to look for when you arrive
- Need a meeting that night? Our recovery meetings guide has the Galano Club’s schedule links
- Ask about access. Venues rotate, so ask organizers about steps, seating and restrooms
What We Couldn’t Check
- Austin Roundup’s plans for New Year’s Eve 2026 and the date of its 2027 conference
- Whether the Zero Proof Pride Crawl comes back in 2027
- SBR-ATX, a queer sober events group named in a 2025 r/Austin thread. We couldn’t find a current page for it
- Sans Bar’s current menu and prices
