Queer and Trans Yoga in Austin

Austin has one weekly yoga class for queer and trans people that we could confirm: Queer + Trans Yoga at OutWellness, Tuesdays at 7 PM in South Austin. It’s taught by a trans instructor and costs $20 to drop in. For one-on-one work, Kelly Marshall of Spectrum Wellness is a trans, nonbinary yoga therapist who takes private clients.

Beyond those two, three Austin studios say something about LGBTQ+ people in writing. Most of the studios we read say nothing, including seven of the nine this page used to list. Our How We Choose page explains how we check.

Queer and Trans Yoga Classes

OutWellness

OutWellness is the queer and trans-centered gym on East Alpine Road, and Queer + Trans Yoga is on its calendar every Tuesday from 7 to 8 PM. The class listing asks, “Want to gain mobility and strength in a low-impact, accessible, body-neutral way with a trans instructor and queer folks?” It says each class is “tailored to the needs of the group” and is “always beginner-friendly.”

The current teacher is Morgan, who took over in June 2026. OutWellness describes the class as “a grounded, affirming yoga practice in a space where you don’t have to translate the experience to fit your body or your identity.”

  • Where: 211 E Alpine Rd, #100, Austin 78704. 512-387-3908
  • When: Tuesdays, 7 to 8 PM, in person
  • Cost: $20 to drop in. Free with the $50-a-month open gym membership, which has no contract. OutWellness says it has sliding scale options if cost is a barrier
  • Bring: a yoga mat, a water bottle, and clothes you can move in
  • Book: reserve a spot on OutWellness’s booking page. The space is “locked and code-access only,” so book before you show up
  • More: OutWellness group classes

The gym itself, with its trans masc and trans femme workouts, is in our guide to LGBTQ+ friendly gyms.

One-on-One Yoga Therapy

Spectrum Wellness

Kelly Marshall runs Spectrum Wellness and taught the OutWellness class before Morgan. Their site says, “Through yoga, Kelly Marshall (then female-identified) realized that they were non-binary and transgender.” It says Kelly finished a 1,000-hour yoga therapist training in 2016 and specializes in “creating a safe space of healing and empowerment for individuals in the LGBTQIA+ population.”

Kelly’s booking page calls the sessions somatic therapy, and every paid session on it is an outcall, meaning Kelly comes to you with the props. The contact page also lists weekend office hours inside Creekside Whole Health Center at 1209 Parkway. Ask which applies when you book.

  • Where: your place, or 1209 Parkway, Austin 78703 (confirm when you book)
  • Cost, as stated: $160 for 60 minutes; $240 for the 90-minute first session
  • Credentials: Kelly states a C-IAYT yoga therapist certification, which we didn’t check. Kelly is also a licensed massage therapist. Texas lists a current license, MT104143, for Kelly M. Marshall
  • Book: a free consult call through Spectrum Wellness

For bodywork, our guide to LGBTQ+ massage therapists lists therapists with their Texas license numbers.

Studios With Something in Writing

None of these three runs a queer class. Each has put something specific on its own site, which the other studios we read have not.

Black Swan Yoga

Black Swan offers “full-tuition scholarships for our 200-hour Yoga Teacher Trainings,” and says they “are intended for BIPOC, LGBTQIA, community leaders and underserved populations.” Classes are donation-based, with a suggested $15 a class, so you can try one without a membership.

Wild Heart Yoga

Wild Heart has a “BIPOC & LGBTQA Scholarship” for its 2027 teacher training, worth up to $1,000 off tuition. Its reason: “Many of those who practice yoga don’t see their identities represented by those who teach it.”

Lizard Yoga

In a May 2026 post on yoga and perimenopause, Lizard Yoga wrote that it “happens to people who menstruate, including some non-binary and trans folks,” and that “our classes are built so that the language and modifications work for every body in the room.” That’s one blog post and not a studio policy, so weigh it that way.

Before You Go

Texas doesn’t license yoga teachers, so there’s no state record to look up. A studio’s website rarely answers these, so email first and ask:

  • Changing and restrooms: is there a single-person restroom or a private place to change?
  • Touch: does the teacher give hands-on adjustments, and how do I opt out?
  • Your name: can my booking account show the name I use?
  • Clothes: can I wear a binder, a shirt, or layers in a heated class?
  • Cost: is there a free first class, a community class, or a sliding scale?
  • The teacher: what training do they have, and have they taught trans or nonbinary students?

If a studio has an intro offer, use it at the hour you’d go. A Saturday morning class and a Tuesday night class can be different crowds.

What We Couldn’t Check

We didn’t take any of these classes, so nothing here is a first-hand review. We read what each studio and teacher publishes. The old version of this page was written as if we’d visited nine studios. We hadn’t, and that copy is gone.

Of those nine, YTX, PURE Yoga Texas, BFREE Yoga, Sanctuary Studio, Practice Yoga Austin, and both Flow Yoga studios say nothing specific about LGBTQ+ or trans students on their sites. A studio can be welcoming without saying so. We only list what’s in writing.

Two classes we couldn’t confirm are still meeting. Queer Black Yoga, from the Queer Black Women Alliance, met monthly at Flow Yoga Westgate through January 2026, and we found no dates after that. A men’s naked yoga class is listed on do512 at ToddPilates in South Austin, but ToddPilates’s own site doesn’t mention it. If you go to either one, tell us through our contact page.

Class times, teachers, and prices change. Check the studio’s schedule before you go.

Last checked: October 2026. Details read from each studio’s or teacher’s own site, calendar, and booking page on October 13, 2026. See a mistake, or teach a queer yoga class we missed? Use our contact page.

How We Check

We check every business and group we name against what it publishes about itself: its own site, its booking page, or its state license. No business pays to be in a guide, and we don’t earn a commission when you book.

The full method is on How We Choose. If something here is wrong or out of date, send a correction.
