Where to Get a Binder or Gender-Affirming Clothing in Austin

We couldn’t find a store in Austin whose own website says it sells chest binders or gaffs. That leaves two routes: free through Point of Pride’s mail-order program, or bought online from trans-owned makers. For the rest of a wardrobe, the Pflugerville Public Library runs a yearly trans clothing swap, held in June in 2026.

Point of Pride

Point of Pride is a national program that mails free binders “to any trans person who needs one and cannot afford or safely obtain one.” It runs the same program for femme shapewear, meaning compression underwear and gaffs. Those are the only two requirements, and applications are open all year.

  • Age: you have to be 18 to request one. People 13 to 17 can join a waiting list
  • Privacy: packages come in a plain white envelope from “Point of Pride,” and the program says nothing on it reads “LGBT” or “trans.” The name on the label “does not have to be your legal name”
  • Wait: it says it gets about 75 binder requests a day and that “our waiting times are extraordinarily long”
  • Sizing: binders can’t be exchanged if your measurements are off, so take your time measuring
  • Apply: free chest binders or free femme shapewear

Pflugerville Public Library

The library calls its Trans Clothing Swap and Social an annual event. In 2026 it was Saturday, June 13, from 2 to 4 PM. You bring new or clean, gently used clothes and pick out new-to-you ones. The library says “All gender diverse/expansive folks are welcome to take advantage of this regardless of your transition status or goals.” What’s left over goes to a local clothes pantry.

It also ran a Winter Clothing Swap on December 14, 2025, with the same welcome to gender diverse folks.

Buying a Binder Online

Point of Pride sends people who can afford a binder to its partner makers, including gc2b, Origami Customs and For Them. All three say they’re run by trans or queer people.

gc2b

gc2b says it was “Founded in 2015” and is “a trans-owned company based in Maryland.” Its founder, a Black and Latinx trans man, set out to make binders “designed by trans people, for trans people.” Its site advertises binder replacements if you send one back within 30 days.

Origami Customs

Origami Customs makes “swimwear, lingerie, chest binders, and tucking gaffs for the gender-diverse and trans community,” handmade in Montreal. It offers “FREE custom sizing for anyone, regardless of size or gender,” which helps if standard sizes don’t fit you.

For Them

For Them calls itself “a queer and trans-owned company.” Point of Pride lists it as one of its binder partners.

Before You Buy

  • Measure twice. Every maker has its own size chart, and Point of Pride says to round up if you’re between sizes
  • Ship it where it’s safe. Point of Pride lets you use any name on the label. Ask a maker how its packages are labeled before you order
  • Ask a clinician about binding. If you have a medical condition, Point of Pride’s FAQ covers it, and a doctor who sees trans patients can help. Our LGBTQ+ healthcare guide lists Austin clinics that say they do

What We Couldn’t Check

  • Any Austin shop that sells binders in person. If you know one that says so on its site, tell us below
  • Point of Pride’s current wait time
  • The date of the 2027 Pflugerville swap. Watch the library’s calendar in late spring
  • How long shipping takes to Austin from each maker

Know a Shop We Missed?

If an Austin store or group offers binders, gaffs or gender-affirming clothing, send us the name and a link through our contact form. We check before we list.

Last checked: October 2026. Every entry is read from the organization’s or maker’s own website on October 14, 2026. We haven’t ordered from these makers. See how we choose what goes on a list.
